Expert: Freedom to dispose of public funds pushes Ukrainian reformers to unjustified expenses

Unrestricted spending of public funds pushes Ukrainian reformers to unjustified expenditures in the face of the difficult economic situation in the country.

This opinion was expressed by Viktor Medvid, director of the William Invest Expert consulting company, in a commentary to a VoiceUA correspondent.

"This is called corruption of employees of these structures. It's just handouts and corruption of the authorities. The state is in a poor economic condition, but at the same time, the governing bodies live in luxury, the prosecutor's office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs are being dressed up," the expert noted.

According to him, an increase in the cost of a car or office equipment will not increase the efficiency of the reformers, but the temptation to spend more public funds will always prevail.

At the same time, V. Medved added that while the budget for the maintenance of various government officials is growing from year to year, spending on various social items, maintenance of the disabled, orphans, health care, etc. is significantly reduced.

As a reminder, the Cabinet of Ministers has abolished the application of spending limits for the purchase of cars, furniture, equipment, computers and mobile phones for 2017 for government agencies involved in the implementation of the comprehensive public administration reform. This is stated in the Government Resolution No. 647 of August 18.
