By the end of the year, bus fares in Kyiv region will rise by 30% - expert

The expected rise in the price of suburban minibuses near Kyiv is primarily due to rising fuel prices. By the end of the year, minibus fares in Kyiv region will rise by 30%.

Viktor Medvid, director of the William Invest Expert consulting company, told this in a commentary to GolosUA.

"The rise in fuel prices directly affects bus fares. By the end of the year, fares could rise by 15-30%. The increase in fares is directly related to the oil market, but it is usually given as an informational pretext, and then other deferred price increases are raised," the expert noted.

According to him, following the minibuses, fares for other types of transportation will gradually rise in price.

"First of all, of course, minibuses will rise in price, and then everything else," Medved summarized.

It is worth noting that while Kyiv is discussing the possibility of phasing out minibuses, carriers have announced an upcoming fare increase. Following Kyiv, carriers on suburban routes intend to raise prices.

As a reminder, in the third decade of October, carriers in Kyiv and Kyiv region warned of a possible increase in fares.
