Several billion will be needed to replace the capital's minibuses with buses

It will take several years and billions of hryvnias to remove all minibuses from Kyiv and replace them with buses.

Viktor Medvid, director of the William invest expert consulting company, told this in a comment to GolosUA.

"There is no money in the budget for this procedure, so it will be possible to get rid of minibuses in a few years. If everything goes as declared, private carriers will simply leave the market. If not, it will be impossible to implement this initiative. The main obstacle to the realization of this idea is funding. Someone has to buy large buses. Private companies will either have to consolidate or leave the market," Mr. Medved said.

According to him, it would take several billion hryvnias to remove all minibuses from Kyiv and replace them with buses.

"We need at least a billion hryvnias to start. In total, it will take several billion hryvnias," Mr. Medved summarized.

As a reminder, Kyiv will develop a program to improve road safety for 2019-2024. The plan is to remove minibuses and upgrade the fleet of buses, trolleybuses, and trams.

Currently, 40% taxis in the capital are operating illegally. The city authorities propose to remove from the roads minibusesand to upgrade the municipal transport fleet. On October 2, at the plenary session of the Kyiv City State Administration, the deputies decided to develop a city comprehensive target program for the development of public transport services and road safety for 2019-2024.

The KCSA Department of Transport Infrastructure was given 6 months to prepare the document
