Expert explains why Kyiv residents are forced to pay 2.5 times more for electricity

Residents of unfinished houses in Ukraine "on paper" have to pay for electricity at the tariffs for enterprises, which are 2 times more expensive.

This opinion was expressed by Viktor Medvid, head of William Invest consulting company, during a press conference at the GolosUA news agency.

According to the expert, today, measures to deal with electricity debts have been strengthened for individuals. If a consumer fails to pay off electricity debts, he or she is transferred to the so-called "supplier of last resort". That is, the "hope" lasts only 90 days, after which this consumer loses the ability to receive electricity at all. After that, you will automatically be subject to an increase in the cost of electricity and water tariffs - everything is transferred to the administrative plane.

"A striking example is that Kyiv has a serious problem with unfinished projects because they are not finished on paper. These are Wojciechowski's buildings, and people live there. If the house is not put into operation, it means you have to pay the tariffs for enterprises, which are 2 times more expensive," explained Medved.

The expert added that people have to pay the "supplier of last resort" for 3 months, but then they end up staying in the same place without electricity and water. The monopolists are able to say that they did not cut off your electricity, but the companies did, and you have to fulfill the condition of paying UAH 150 thousand, and the last consumer will pay for everything.

"The figures of the residential tariff are based on the figures of the non-residential tariff. People are forced to pay 2.5 times more. Everything is done in the interests of monopolists who intend to collect money from residents as much as possible," Mr. Medved summarized.

According to DTEK Kyiv power grids", until the house is transferred to a permanent tariff, it is impossible to guarantee a stable electricity supply.
