The situation on Kyiv's roads is primarily due to the fact that the municipality has little or no control over the existing infrastructure.
This was reported by Viktor Medvid, director of William Invest Expert Consulting Company, in a commentary to GolosUA.
"Nowadays, many people use navigators and the like, and few people use maps anymore. But we are in a situation where the municipality is managing the city using maps, i.e., using technologies from forty years ago. Therefore, there is no reverse traffic, no other methods of operational management of two million vehicles in the capital," the expert said.
According to him, this is why all this leads to a transport collapse on the streets of Kyiv.
"In addition, the city authorities have a strategically wrong policy, i.e. neither interceptor parking lots nor other infrastructure facilities that should be implemented are being implemented. Therefore, the whole problem lies in the management of the city and the incompetence of the Kyiv authorities. We should not hope for an improvement in the situation in the near future, because the authorities are doing everything to make it worse. For example, the number of shopping and entertainment centers at transport hubs and arteries is constantly growing. It is worth mentioning the same DreamTown, which has reduced its throughput from a speed of 50-60 kilometers to 10-15, OceanPlaza has also reduced its throughput, and so on. In other words, all these shopping malls should not have been built in such places, and we can see that the transport situation is constantly deteriorating. Therefore, in the long run, everything will only get worse," Mr. Medved summarized.
As reported, by June 24, Borshchahivka stood in traffic jams. This happened because on June 22, the overpass at the intersection of Komarova and Lesya Kurbas avenues with the Kyiv-Volynsky-Svyatoshyn railway station was closed for repairs.
