Domestic ELISA antigen tests have high export potential for Ukraine

KYIV. 18 January. UNN. The development of Ukrainian scientists - DIA®-SARS-CoV-2-Ag-R antigen ultra-sensitive tests - has a high export potential. Despite the difficulties that may arise when entering the markets of India, Europe and America, where they strongly support their domestic producers, the prospects remain unlimited. Economic expert Viktor Medvid told UNN about this.

"Of course, our tests have good export potential. It certainly does. But here we need to consider which directions we are talking about. If it is the direction of non-developed economies, it is very possible, because the key issue there is the price. In other countries, it is mainly the protection of their own market. For example, India has its own market, Europe and America have theirs, and it will be harder to get there because they protect domestic producers very strongly," he explained.

The economist also noted that, despite these factors, high-quality Ukrainian diagnostics have a significant head start due to their low price of UAH 70.

"So, of course, there is a lot of potential. Even though selling in a capitalist system is a very complicated process," he concluded.
