Dismissal of Ukrzaliznytsia's head is a "war of lobbyists" - Medved

Ivan Yuryk, a member of the UZ Management Board, will temporarily act as Chairman of the Board, having already held this position from April 16 to September 24, 2020.

What is happening at Ukrzaliznytsia? Victor Medvid, director of William Invest Expert, a consulting company, told us.

Viktor Medvid: Dismissal of Ukrzaliznytsia's CEO is a "lobbyist war". The strategy of Ukrzaliznytsia has long been approved to reform it. There are several tasks: reducing the monopoly on passenger and freight transportation, separating the railway infrastructure from the rolling stock. This makes it possible to create competitive conditions. At the same time, the existing corruption schemes operating at Ukrzaliznytsia will be broken. The old staff is interested in keeping the corruption schemes in place, so we see this theater, a show of several actors represented by the Cabinet of Ministers and the Supervisory Board, who cannot share responsibility for the dismissal, so they nod at each other. The fact that this is an agreement is obvious.

Also, such dismissal is a violation of labor law and the contract, as no grounds for dismissing a person on sick leave were given. Zhmak will certainly be able to appeal this decision in court, but it will not lead to anything, because he will not be able to perform his duties properly when the supervisory board blocks the relevant decisions. The worst thing about this issue is that the position and personality of the head of Ukrzaliznytsia does not matter. He was not hired transparently enough and is being fired in the same way. At the same time, there is no assessment of his performance over 7 months.
