Journalists or judges - who puts pressure on whom: a roundtable discussion on transparency of justice took place in Kyiv

Interference in the work of judges or blocking investigations by independent media: who is putting pressure on whom? On December 4, a roundtable discussion on transparency of judicial proceedings and objectivity of their coverage by journalists was held in Kyiv at the Stop Corruption Media Center. The open discussion brought together politicians, representatives of the media community, lawyers, human rights defenders, civil society activists, and experts on anti-corruption and judicial reform.

The topic of the event was "Pressure on Judges or Pressure on Journalists: How Judges Block Exposure of Absurd Decisions by Complaints about Journalists' Work".

The event was attended by: Mykola Onishchuk, rector of the National School of Judges of Ukraine, former Minister of Justice, and Serhiy Horbatiuk, former deputy head of the Main Investigation Department, head of the Special Investigations Department of the PGO, Oksana Kodunova, editor-in-chief of Stop Corruption TV, and Ihor Bondarchuk, chairman of the board of the NGO Stop Corruption, Bohdan Tsimeiko, head of the NGO "Protection of the Ukrainian People", Dmytro Pavlichenko, representative of the NGO "Protection of Ordinary People", media expert Oleksandr Chekmyshev, lawyer Viktor Surnyk, representatives of the Strategic Advocacy Law Firm Serhiy Rudenko and Oleksandr Bilyk, director of the Prisma Analytical Center Viktor Medvid, and public figure Valeriy Haiduk.
