The appointment of Volodymyr Zhmak as the head of Ukrazaliznytsia is clearly irrational.
This was reported by Viktor Medvid, director of William Invest Expert consulting company, in a commentary to GolosUA.
"It should also be noted that the government's policy is generally irrational. If we look at the railways, and the entire supervisory board that appointed the previous candidate for approval by the Cabinet of Ministers, there is only one specialist in this field out of seven people - all the others are people who have nothing to do with the railways," the expert said.
According to him, Zhmak's appointment can only be described as promoting the interests of those who lobbied for his appointment.
"He was delegated to this position and will undoubtedly fulfill the tasks set for him by neither the Cabinet nor the Supervisory Board, but by the people behind his appointment. After his appointment, we will not see a qualified approach to the development of the railroad - definitely, because where can a person get qualifications if he or she is only familiarizing himself or herself with the subject? It means that the company, which is worth hundreds of billions of hryvnias, will be handed over to a newcomer for an experiment," Medved summarized.
As reported, the government at a meeting on Wednesday, August 26, appointed Volodymyr Zhmak as the head of Ukrzaliznytsia. Currently, Zhmak is a member of the supervisory board of Boryspil airport. Until June 2016, he was the first deputy head of the Odesa Regional State Administration. Previously, he worked for oil companies.
